The Icing on the Cake!

Today March 9th, as most of you know, is my birthday, so we had a little party at one of the resturants in the hotel called JASPAS. It is a really nice place and I have eaten here many times. We bought a cake from a bakery and took it with us. I had chicken fajitas and they were great. I got a a few gifts, one being a Vietnamese cd that I really like, but all in all I had a great time. The cake was great and they sung to me. The hotel also had given me a gift: a card and some chocolate. They are so nice here. I had a really great birthday so thanks for the comments and emails. I'll post later,

Happy International Woman's Day

Today March 8th, if you don't know allready, is International Woman's Day. I believe we, in the U.S., should take it more serious and celebrate women rights. I think this holiday is a great idea and women should celebrate. Think of some of the great woman suffragist or woman leaders in world history. All the women all over the world should be thankful for the rights available to them. I'll post later,

Water Puppets

The other day we went to see the water puppet show. It was amazing. It told stories about the lifestyles of the ancient Vietnamese and some legends as well. There was a traditional band playing the music for them and I found myself watching them more than the show itself. I really enjoyed it. I've got to go but when I post again it will be full of stories,

My 1st Trip in Vietnam

Yesterday I traveled to Phu Tho, which is more of an agricultural area compared to Hanoi. When we arrived to where we were going I finally got to see my sister. She was so little I couldn't believe it. I saw many other babies and the nannies that take care of them. I held my sister and a few other babies. I had a really good time and whenever I went home I fell asleep right away. Today we will get to bring my sister with us to the hotel, after our giving and receiving which is supposed to be at 3:00. I just want to thank those people who are looking at my blog, posting comments, sending me e-mails, and of course just supporting this trip and this blog. Thanks! I'll keep posting more but right now I need to eat breakfast so bye.

My Journey To Vietnam

After we got on the plane for Vietnam I started to get really excited. The food was really good. It was supposed to be a 2-hour flight but after the last one it felt like 20 minutes. While we were landing I could see all the rice fields and farms, it was really amazing. We traveled from the airport to the hotel in a van. There were so many mopeds on the road it was unbelievable. The hotel is very nice and i went right asleep last night. Today we just rested up and tomorrow we go to visit my new sister. I'll keep posting later but right now I need to crash so i'll talk later.

My QUEST to Hong Kong!

After L.A. we took off for a 15 hour flight to Hong Kong,China. I slept very little and i was nowhere near a window, the input to the sound for my tv was broken and most of the captions were in Chinese so I could barely watch the tv. Other than that everything was good. When it was over we went to the Hong Kong International Airport where we stayed for 7 hours. It was filled with more shops than a regular mall, although we didn't notice half of them until we were ready to leave. After our time was up we got on our plane to go to Vietnam......

Let me tell you something you already know but I will emphasize it: L.A. is HUGE.We arrived LAX at about 8 and our next flight took off at 12 something. It was crazy in there. I'll post some more info on the rest of my trip in a little while but I'm starving right now and were getting ready to leave for breakfast.

My First Post

I am starting this blog to record my journey as we travel to Vietnam to get my new little sister. I will be out of school for about 3 weeks when we travel. Hopefully we will have a safe journey to and fro. I'm so excited to leave for Vietnam and to get my new sister. My other sister, Abby, is also from Vietnam, so she is very anxious to return to her place of birth. I will update this blog as we get closer to leaving and as I'm on my trip.
